Terms of use

Updated 17 August 2026 Effective 17 August 2026 Governing law: Australia

These terms apply to everyone who reads retrointel.com or subscribes to the RetroIntel briefing. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

1. What this site is

RetroIntel is an independent editorial desk. We install free Android games from Google Play, play them over at least two weeks on ordinary handsets, and publish notes describing how they behave. Our notes are opinion and editorial judgement, not statements of fact about a developer or a product. The star figure printed beside an entry is the public Google Play rating of that title on the day the entry was written, and it may change after publication.

2. Advertising disclosure

Reading RetroIntel is free. The site is funded in two ways: advertising placements shown on the pages, and the optional paid reader plan described below. Some links to Google Play are promoted placements, and those links are labelled where they appear.

Placements do not buy coverage. No advertiser can add a title to the index, change an entry's note, change the rating line or change a title's position. If we cannot write about a promoted title honestly, we do not run the placement.

3. Paid reader plan

What is purchased

The Reader plan (A$4.90 per month) and the Archive plan (A$39 per year) give access to RetroIntel editorial material: long-form breakdowns, mechanics teardowns, early access to collections and, on the Archive plan, the complete back catalogue and downloadable session notes. A plan is a subscription to reading material on this website only. It gives no advantage, item, level or benefit of any kind inside any game, and it is in no way connected with purchases made inside a game or with Google Play.

Term, billing and cancellation

Plans are quoted in Australian dollars and include GST. A monthly plan runs for one month and a yearly plan for twelve months, each renewing automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, and access continues until then. Prices may change with at least thirty days' notice sent to your subscribed address; a change never applies to a period already paid for.

Refunds

If you ask within fourteen days of a first charge and have not downloaded the archive material, we will refund that charge in full. Outside that window we refund on a pro-rata basis where the material promised was not delivered. Nothing here limits the guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law, which apply regardless of what these terms say.

Current status

Our payment provider is being activated and no charge can be taken through this website today. There is no checkout here and we never collect card details on this site. Choosing a plan simply records your interest through the briefing form; we will write to you when billing opens, and nothing is owed until you complete a purchase at that point.

4. No affiliation

RetroIntel is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google LLC, Big Duck Games LLC, Easybrain, PeopleFun, ZeptoLab or any other studio mentioned on the site. Google Play and the Google Play logo are trademarks of Google LLC.

5. Intellectual property

App names, icons and screenshots belong to their respective rights holders and appear here to identify the games under review. The editorial text, layout, illustrations and structure of retrointel.com belong to RetroIntel. You may quote a short extract with a link back; republishing an entry in full requires our written permission.

6. Acceptable use

  • Do not attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site.
  • Do not scrape the site systematically or republish it as your own.
  • Do not submit another person's email address to the briefing form.

7. Links to other sites

Links to Google Play and other external pages are provided for convenience. We do not control those pages and are not responsible for their content, availability or terms. Installing a game means accepting the developer's own terms and the Google Play terms.

8. Disclaimer and liability

The site is provided on an “as is” basis. We take care to be accurate, but we do not warrant that entries are complete, current or free of error, or that the site will be available without interruption. To the extent permitted by law, RetroIntel is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site. Nothing in these terms excludes any guarantee, right or remedy that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

9. Corrections

If an entry is wrong, write to desk@retrointel.com. Corrections are published in the same week and noted in the index log.

10. Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and the courts of Australia have jurisdiction over any dispute. We may update these terms; the updated date at the top of the page changes when we do, and material changes are announced in the briefing.
